Space for the Celebration

There are almost 200 various Lutheran congregations in the greater Puget Sound area alone. There may not be a Lutheran “megachurch” in this region, but across the region there is a megachurch of Lutherans!

Presented by Lutheran Ministry Services Northwest, a nonprofit chaplaincy outreach organization, Northwest Reformation 500 aims to draw as many Lutherans (and friends!) as possible from the greater Puget Sound region. This could mean at least 2,500 individuals in attendance.

With only small to medium Lutheran congregations in the region, where can 2,500+ Lutherans and fellow Christians gather to celebrate? The 450th Reformation anniversary celebration was held at the Seattle Center Colosseum, which no longer exists. Benaroya Hall? (Couldn't be booked early enough.) McCaw Hall or a theater in Seattle? (Already booked two years in advance.)

Overlake Christian Church in Redmond (map & directions) is the perfect solution: seating for up to 5,000 with ample parking, more than enough space to host a reception, and a “mallway” for exhibits and vendors (including area Lutheran schools, Concordia Publishing House, and more). Have ideas for a booth or exhibit? Contact Don Sundene, Executive Director, Lutheran Ministry Services Northwest at

Thanks to a talented local Lutheran pastor, a custom-made altar, pulpit, baptismal font, and processional cross will transform the auditorium at Overlake Christian Church for Northwest Reformation 500 Festival Worship. After the event, these furnishings will be donated to a mission church.
