Festival Worship Service

Worship will be a highlight of the celebration. Rev. Dr. William Weinrich (pictured), Professor of Historical Theology and Coordinator of Military Chaplaincy at Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, Ind.,  will preach at the Northwest Reformation 500 festival worship service. An energetic and engaging speaker, Dr. Weinrich brings both an accomplished academic career and a dynamic ability to reach people in everyday language. His message will energize you to share the Reformation legacy of Christ alone, by grace alone, through faith alone as you reach out in your community. (Read more about Dr. Weinrich at our News page.) Rev. Paul Linnemann, President of the Northwest District of the Lutheran ChurchMissouri Synod, will serve as presiding minister at the service, leading us in prayer and praise. Kyle Haugen, M.S.M., from Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Bellevue, Wash., is already serving as artistic director to help plan the festival worship service and will direct vocal and instrumental ensembles. More information about the Northwest Reformation 500 festival worship service, including how to volunteer your time and talents, is coming late Spring 2017.

With only small to medium Lutheran congregations in the region, where can 2,500 Lutherans and fellow Christians gather to celebrate? The 450th Reformation anniversary celebration was held at the Seattle Center Colosseum, which no longer exists. Benaroya Hall? (Couldn't be booked early enough.) McCaw Hall or a theater in Seattle? (Already booked.)

Overlake Christian Church in Redmond (map & directions) is the perfect solution: seating for up to 5,000 with ample parking, more than enough space to host a reception, and a "mallway" for exhibits and vendors (such as Concordia Publishing House, Thrivent Financial, and more). Interested in setting up a booth for your Christian business or organization? Have ideas for a booth or exhibit? Contact info coming soon!

Getting There

Although Overlake Christian Church offers a generous parking lot (and golf cart shuttles to the front door), to successfully draw from a 200-mile radius Northwest Reformation 500 needs easy and comfortable transportation for those who prefer not to drive. We are pursuing options to provide group transportation from regional pickup sites.

“To gather with Godʼs people in united adoration of the Father is as necessary to the Christian life as prayer.”

— Martin Luther
